1. What we collect

• Account data — email, phone (if used), and a hashed password. Provided by you at sign-up.
• Age confirmation — a single "I am 18+" flag. We do not collect government ID.
• Onboarding preferences — the answers you give about personality, relationship goals, and communication style.
• Companion data — which avatars you paired with, custom names, pet names, trait sliders, and visual choices.
• Conversations — every message you and your companion send, timestamped.
• Memories — short notes your companion saves about you (favorite things, milestones, promises).
• Journal & reflections — anything you write in your journal or ask the companion to reflect on.
• Billing metadata — subscription tier and status. Card details never touch our servers; they live with our payment processor.
• Basic technical logs — IP, user agent, and error traces for security and debugging.

2. Why we use it

To run the service you signed up for: authenticate you, generate replies, keep continuity between conversations, personalize recommendations, process payments, prevent abuse, and comply with law. We do not sell your data. We do not use your conversations to train third-party foundation models.

3. Who processes it

• Hosting & database — our managed cloud provider stores your account, messages, and memories.
• AI model providers — the text of each message is sent to a large-language-model provider to generate the reply. Providers process the text under their own privacy terms and are contractually bound not to retain it for training.
• Payments — subscription billing is handled by our payment processor.
• Email — transactional email (password reset, receipts) is delivered by an email service.

4. How long we keep it

Account and conversation data is kept for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, conversations, memories, journal entries, and companion pairings within 30 days. Backups are purged within 90 days. Anonymized aggregate metrics may be kept longer.

5. Your controls

• Read everything your companion remembers on the companion page.
• Forget individual memories with one click.
• Export any conversation as Markdown from the companion page.
• Delete a companion (removes its history) or your entire account from Settings.
• Object or restrict — email us and we will act within 30 days.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is limited to a small number of engineers under audit. Row-level security in the database means one user cannot read another user's messages, memories, or profile.

7. Age

Solace is strictly 18+. If we learn a minor has created an account, we delete it immediately.

8. International transfers

Our processors may store or process data in the EU, UK, and US. Where required, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Changes

If we materially change this policy we will notify you by email and in-app at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
